Does anyone know if 220's came with front turf tires from the factory? If so what size were they? I would like to put a pair on my 220.
I like the looks of turf tires on the big horses like 210's, 220's and 7060 and 7080's |

I believe the only tractor that came from the factory with the diamond stud (or turf tire) was the 7080. At least from my recollection of what came into Dad's dealership in the '70's that was the case. Two Ten's, Two Twenty's, 7030, and 7050 all came out with a tri-rib tire from the factory. Again, just my experience but there may have been other dealers with something different.

I was thinking about putting those on my 220 but was advised against it by the tire dealer. He said corn stalks are hard on them. I went with 4 rib instead.

In the years I was in the farm tire business I saw several 220's with the diamond tread. I do not know if they were stock. I do remember several new 7080's at R&R equipment in Indianola came with the diamond treads.

They are 16" wide -- the old designation for 16.1 was 16A for rim diameter. They have a huge offset and reinforcing rings from the factory. We have a couple sets on our tractors....

Have you priced a new 18.4-16.1 diamond tread (knobby) tire only lately? Make sure you're sitting down.

As far as I know, the first farm tractor to offer those front tires was the 7080 in very late 1974.

They look cool but wouldn’t they steer worse.

Stumbling through a local salvage yard looking for a matching 20.8 x 38 radial for the duals, I saw these tires on Kubota rims and another wore out pair of diamonds on MF 2745 rims. The rims are the same as a 7080 and fit perfectly.

Calvin, your AC 220 looks awesome! Does it's rear duals have Mexican hat centers? |

Steering isn't really an issue on a tractor with power brakes. The improved ride is awesome when you run the air between 15 and 20 psi.

Yes it has Mexican Hat duals. It also has a 3500 MK II engine that was factory speced as a "On Highway" and has a factory inline injection pump. Was a standby water pump power unit with 82 hrs when I got it. Just didn't look right without and intercooler. I call it my 220 XT.

I love them diamonds also. When I was a kid, a neighbor had a two twenty with em on the front. Looked identical the one Calvin has posted, duals and all. Thought that had a unique factor that was just awesome. If I had the ways and means to do it, every tractor I own would have them. Love the looks of your front tires, too, LBO442. Darrel

Are the only rims that work on the turf tires the factory ones that came on 7080s?

The rims on my 220 above are from a MF 2745. Rims were vendor supplied

I've got 2 pair, both are mismatched and both were on combine rear axles, one set of 6 bolt 1 set of 8 bolts that have split rims. I would take $250 for a pair if you're interested I can send pics, located in SWMO.

I agree with victoryallis, the look great and ride awesome, but the steering is terrible especially in worked ground they just slide. We took ours off our 7080 and put a 4 rib on it.
