I have rebuilt carburetor, tuned up, adjusted valves and still have a surge when the tractor is revved up. It calms down and runs right after the initial surging. The throttle rod has a small hole in it, is this for a spring? My WD45 has a light spring on the throttle rod to the carburetor, did a CA as well? Was it to prevent surging? Thanks, Tim

yes, it should have a spring on the carburetor rod. I don't have a CA parts book, but the part number for a D10 is 232020 which is probably the same.

Other causes for a CA’s engine surging are: improperly adjusted governor cross arm an running lean due to oxygenated gas. I’v found that the main jet needs to be drilled out a tiny bit for them to run righ on our mandated pollution control gas.

Anti surge spring will more than likely fix your problem. $12.00 from most of the suppliers on this site.

One end attaches to the hole in the rod. The other end goes up and attaches to one of the manifold studs.
