model 160 its a vane pump. I wonder should I foul the lift so I get pressure because just picking up the bh only bumps the pressure not giving me a max that the book says I need to ck.

Can't you just dead head a gauge on the end of hose in the coupling?

That would be best way, put a gauge in one remote coupler and pull lever for that outlet. MACK

hook up to the output hose from the pump. Best way to check, is with a flow meter, it gives pressure, and GPM output, and tests under load.

Exactly what is the problem?? If you have no remote couplers, are you trying to lift something with the 3 point hitch and it won't pick it up?? Even with a gauge plumbed in-line, there is little pressure until a load is applied. Just because the hydraulic system relief might be 2,200 psi, doesn't mean you will see 2,200 psi until you lift something heavy enough to actually require 2,200 psi. Some loads might only take 1500 psi to pick them up. If this is an A-C model 160 tractor, they are world famous for 3-point hitches not lifting.

It is a 160 and i have a gauge in the top of the pump where the book says put it but when running the grader blade are bush hog they every couple of seconds or so they make little short jumps or bumps up and down looking like the pressure relief valve is jumping because of trash in it or the pump vanes may be worn to the point of replacement and i was looking for an easy way to get the pressure to spike without breaking something. which was why i asked the question if anyone had an easy way to get the pressure up. I like my AC and dont want to mess it up. It may turn out that the pump is worn OR it may be the pressure relief.

Are you sure it is full of oil? With out a flow rater you're going to have to tie lift arms down to get a reading on gauge.(not a good way to check pump)
The pump on a 160 is a gear pump. MACK

After hooking up the bush hog and driving down the road the bh every 4-5 seconds ease down slowly and jump back up. So its kind of hard to grade a road with, the bh will set on the back tire and work fairly well but grading is kind of tuff.
