other than a punch and hammer, what wrench does a person use to tighten or loosen the brass collars on each side of the water pump
One of mine came loose very easily and the other looks to be much more tight and is a SOB. I placed Blaster penetrating fluid on it tonight and will try again tomorrow evening. I envision a large old wrench that would engage the large brass nut. mine are so beat up that I am afraid that a wrench, even if it is the correct wrench would not fit. what packing material does a person use. ( i know , I should check with Norm's antiques) getting close to getting the old girl started Paul

It sounds to me like you need a spanner wrench. Not sure what the packing nut looks like on a 20-35 but if it is round and has notches, a spanner wrench is the proper tool.

there are left and right threads on that pump. turn the second nut the same direction as the first to loosen. I have the wrench for sale as well as the packing. also have new water pump shaft, impeller, and gaskets.
