Saturday I was digging a stump out with the 5020 and the tractor slid into the whole and hit the stump in a way I couldn't push the clutch in, by the time I realized I'd better shut it off, the tractor had dug and pawed it's way right on top the stump, to high for the loader to lift me off. had to call the boy and get a jack some chains and a come along to get it off the stump.  did get the stump out with no damage to the 5020.

Sunday, I was working on building the road from the upper pasture.  wasn't paying attention and slid the right side right off the road.  now the left side was 2ft or more lower than the left, a tree top in front and stump behind me.  I thought for sure the machine was gonna roll right down the hill, thank fully I had the loader low to the ground and dropped it quick.  another call to the boy for the jack, chains, come along etc.  took an hour or better, but got the 5020 back on the road.  ugh, hope this week is better.  I can't seem to get pictures from my phone to my computer or I'd post some pictures.

Dang your life insurance paid up?

I know what you mean, I had a B go plumb hog wild on me one day trying to pull another B off the trailer. it started up on the rears like it was going over. I stabbed the clutch and it flipped all the way down past the stop and under, so it became useless. only thing I could do was shut it off...... BUT WAIT! it's a magneto with no shut off! Now What?
I hit the gearshift with my fist and it went into reverse and tried to climb the other tractor. I yanked the gearshift into neutral and got off shaking...

I Feel YA.

Y'all are some lucky fellas. It only takes a second to find out how dangerous these things are. The terrible realization is sometimes it's a second to late

A wake up call now and then sure beats the alternatives as long as we wake up and learn! Be careful out there.
I was backing the C out of the barn a couple weeks ago while day dreaming and backed into the 14'  sliding door that I hadnt fully opened and it fell. If not for it just barely catching the edge of the barn it would have likely killed me.

A little tractor will hurt you a lot quicker than a big one.

I always tell the boy if your feeling comfortable running the tractor, get off of it!!!

when I slid off the road I felt my sugar dropping, but being a stubborn pollock I kept working.  Never helps when your using a small tractor to do a bull dozers job.  I agree Gary, the short wheel base on the smaller tractors can make things go bad very quick.  The neighbors dad was killed when his Oliver (narrow front) rolled over on him.  @#@#!!! hillside anyway...Smile

bet ya had to change your shorts when the B tried to climb over the other one..LOL

Which of these posts is not like the other, come can you tell me which one.

dt I think you forgots which forum you was on Wink

The B tractor one had me chuckling, I'm glad you are alright, you too dt.

I want to hear again about the fella that used his mouth to steer an N6 at road speed. I forgot who it was but it was one for the books.

My best isn't quite as potentially deadly but it was painful. I was helping my dad build a feed house onto the barn and he was using old poles from his old barn which had burned years earlier. I had to pull some old nails out of the poles that were already up and one was just above my head so I took the claw hammer and grabbed onto the nail and pulled straight down. The nail head popped off and I kissed the end of that hammer handled like I've never kissed my wife. Split lip and loose tooth and I was done for the day. Dad laughed though.

Tractors and tree stumps. There's so much that can happen. They just aren't made for each other.

It does work good,---BUT has been known to toss chunks across the field!!!
If there was room in here I would just "MOOSE" them out, but 60,000 pound crawler loader does NOT fit well in this area! thanks; ac fleet

I know of two people killed (one a classmate) because they threw a chain around an axle housing instead of hooking to the drawbar. If you don't think about it, it sounds like an ok and easy solution rather than get a clevas and hook to the drawbar.
