Transmission has had some water in it at some point. Anyone have a "recipe" or process for getting old oil and slug out of a transmission. My IB has some slug in it that I'd like to get out of it. Dont really want to disassemble the whole transmission unless I need to. Seems to still shift well.

Let it drain for about a week, you'll be surprised how much sludge comes out on its own. Then, dump a couple gallons of diesel fuel in the tranny and let it sit overnight, drive it around the yard for a few minutes, drain and repeat until it's clean.

yup, Bill's got the right idea ! I had a hydrostatic transaxle that needed work,turned it upside down to drain as 'that green company is cheap), and after a week it was fairly empty. Split the covers apart and it took another week to get the rest of the 30 oil out of it.
The hotter it is the better oil flows...

put a couple heat magnets, on the bottom of tranny, and you'll get more sludge out. Also can pour kerosene into tranny, and drive it around on a warm day...

Isn't kerosene REALLY expensive?? Diesel is pretty cheap....comparatively.
