I have just completed the engine rebuild on my 1940 B and am realizing that the shop that reworked my crank removed the oil wick. I think I would like to use a sealed pilot bearing and plug the crank hole. Does anyone have a pilot bearing part number to do this?

Is there a direct replacement that doesnt involve machining the flywheel?

just get a sealed version of the old bearing or simply measure width, id and od

It's not going to happen! There is not enough room between the inside diameter and the outside diameter to put ball bearings in. The pilot bearing in your flywheel is actually a bushing.  The only way would be to have the flywheel bored for a sealed bearing.

I bought oil impregnated bronze bushing. Drilled and tapped crank for plug. Has worked fine for me. Scott

I just greased the stock bushing and reused it....not uncommon for old tractors and trucks........ The oil impregnated bushing sounds like a good idea.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

This may sound dumb...I've heard of oil impregnated bushings before, but what are they? How do they work? Do you have to lube them?

did a clutch on like a 2002 chevy S10 pickup and they still used bushings in those. i was suprised by that. any way to save a buck

Anyone have a source for oil impregnated bushings? I am having a hard time finding them.

Looks like I need a 1-1/8 od x 7/8 id x 1 length

For future reference, it looks like McMaster Part Number 6391K273 is what is needed for an oil impregnated bushing.
