Took me long enough but she's pretty much done. Decals really make the tractor I learned. It will be in Boonville. I appreciate everyone who helped with finding parts for it and advice on how to get certain issues figured out, Jason, Bill, Ryan, Rick, Don to name a few. I'm hoping one of the vendors will have one of the smaller cut outs at the show as I didn't want to put one of those big boxy ones on my generator. I think they look tacky.

In a recent thread I see where Bill Long said a Tricycle C is, in his opinion, the best looking Allis ever built. That coming from a B man is amazing.

Great job AJ. Very special C with the single front tire and the starter tank. Does the fuel line from the starter tank go to the sediment bowl or directly to the carb?

The line is suppose to go from the small tank to a T then to the main line then to the carburetor. It's not currently on it yet but hope to get it on there before the show. They touch up paint was still wet in these pictures from last night. |

Does the C and the CA share the same part numbers for the lower parts of a SFW setup?
Come to think of it I have seen more Cs with SFW than CAs. One tractor salvage yard in Colorado had 3 Cs with SFW on the lot. Another yard in Rocky Ford had 2 on the lot. A friend sent me pictures of 2 SFW Restored Cs for sale near Greely. Looked at 2 more Cs with a SFW down here in Texas. |

I have a single front wheel C, they are pretty common in this area, can't say I've seen a SFW CA but I'm sure they are out here.
Nice Job, by the way, wish my C looked nearly that good. |

John
Thanks for backing me up on how common SFW Cs are in Colorado. I have the notion they were popular with sugar beet farmers back in the day. The books say SFW Cs and CAs were low production tractors but books also say they were a dealer installed option. I consider myself lucky to find a SFW CA here in East Texas. To confirm Ken's post - yes, I think the tricycle C is the best looking tractor Allis Chalmers made. In fact, there was a Farm Journal cover - back in my day - with a C I think raking hay. Just beautiful.
AJ, Outstanding job. Especially a rare kerosene model. Love the decals. To me the best ones. You know, the only C's we sold were the tricycle front - two wheels. Never saw single fronts in our sales area. Good Luck! Bill Long |

Looking A-#1 AJ, tin work is straight as an arrow. I bet it steers like a feather on that single front?? As for you cut out relay goto Ebay and search for a Delco Remy Relay 1116809 There is allays a few for sale but are a bit pricey. I find them at the swap meets, ask if I can remove the cover and if they look good inside (points and coil) there is very likely they will work, not a complicated devise. I happen to be out of them at the moment.

Thanks guys. It took me long enough. I hope the next one don't take near as long. Ken and John, you all might already know this but according the information that we have there were 664 factory Cs with the single front end and 460 factory CAs with the single front. Obviously you could get the dealer to install one for you so the true numbers are not known. I will be starting the restoration on a Kerosene CA sfw in the spring.

how exactly is a kero different from a regular c. maby you discussed this already.
does it have a k stamp on block like a UM engine? im assuming manifold and pistons are different. anything else?

Yes there is a Kerosene stamped after the serial number. Has a different manifold, pistions (picture below), carburetor and lower compression. Also, has a heat shield over the manifold and a starter tank sticking through the hood (picture above shows it).

It currently is just on the regular gas. I haven't had time to hook up the Kerosene lines yet. I was hoping to have that part together for the GOTO but I ran out of time. Was barely able to get her together this much in time. I have a couple projects coming. Take time and money, I'm limited on both much of the time. |
