I got to replace ALL the hoses on the steering gear and cylinder the last couple days...40 year old originals,, whew, what a job.. might not be so bad, but ya gotta take a LOT of the cab interior parts/covers off, this includes the floormat and floor center piece... there's a cover/shield jus behind the luberfiner that if taken off prolly would have helped but,,I really didn't want to take that luberfiner out again...
its all done now and ready for work again ![]() |

Dr. Allis, so it will be ok without the luberfiner? Just plug the block where the lines go? what about putting a spinon type bypass filter? I kinda like the extra oil capacity with the big filter,, but their kinda hard to find, I got one from agco, no other suppliers service this filter number anymore... yea,,, it will prolly go in the junk next oil change, jus so I don't have to deal with it
thanks Edited by Michael V (NM) - 19 Aug 2016 at 3:26pm |

Many times the filter didn't work, because the inlet or outlet check valve would be plugged with fuzz from the filter. I have seen many times Customers did something wrong and the filter leaked oil at the lid and have actually run the engine very low on oil. When you are sitting in the cab, how do you know if it's leaking?? Change the oil a little more often, or convert over to the 8050/70 spin-on style and make your own mounting brackets and hoses to connect.

So how does a guy tell if their luberfiner is hooked up and working or not and if it is still hooked up what has to be done to get rid off it?
Just asking being I am going to be working on both our 8030 and 7050 for fuel line replacement and I think one or maybe both have those canisters mounted up under the hoods at the back and if they are a problem I have no issue with removing them being neither tractor does any hard field work.

I had a look. It's just the 7050 that has it.

Bought a 7050 at auction, unhooked filter befor driving it home. That is how much I trust a bypass filter. MACK

So is there a secret password or handshake I need to do to find out how to unhook the damn thing?
![]() Do I just unscrew the fittings on the engine and plug the holes or what being the other threads I have found online relating to this subject just dead end without defined answers as well.

I would just feel the lines for heat when running.
We get along great with luber finers and tend to leave them be. That said, there was a bypass retrofit kit with lines and everything, mounted on the LH side. look for one in a junkyard. I need to change the one in my 7580, the housing cracked from vibration and has a tiny seep that all it does is make a little mess. I will see what I find in the yard, might convert to spin on if they have the kit, stick with luber finer if they dont. |

I looked into converting my 7060 a few years ago. The kit is still available from agco. To find the parts for it you have to look in the 8070 or 8050 parts book.

the way I check my lube refiner on my 7020 is just feel if the filter housing is hot after running awhile, I just figure that means circulation. tell me if this is right or wrong my by pass filter the oil goes in the middle of the filter and comes out the sides? is that right?
