Oldest Gleaner Dealer?

   Looking for help
We are in our 60^th year and believe we are the oldest Gleaner dealer in Kansas and maybe more.  We were not Allis until they bought out Gleaner and know we are not the oldest Allis dealer.  When Dad started he had MM and Gleaner Baldwin, previously the dealer he bought had Oliver Hart Parr.  I am asking to get input as to any other dealers that anyone known’s of that might be older.  Also my father purchased an existing dealer (Norton Brothers) in August 1950.   We know they were in business selling Gleaner in 1927 as my grandfather purchased a new Gleaner from them that year.  We also know their dad Gus started the business in 1916 but do not know when they started selling equipment or Gleaner for that matter.  
As I said earlier we are 6o but Gleaner has had a dealer in Kalvesta for at least 83 consecutive years.  We think this aint a bad achievement.  We look forward to any information and appreciate the help.

	Congratulations on your dealership. I don't have an answer to the oldest dealer question but here are some pictures of a 1930 Gleaner, and a 1930 Curtis - sort of related since Curtis Baldwin designed it, and a Gleaner Windrower. I had the pleasure of getting to ride them while harvesting wheat in Portage la Prairie in 2009. I think it is the only operational Curtis and certainly one of just a few Gleaners this old that are operational. 	Congrats! 60years is a long time for any endeavor. I checked out your dealership website. Did you know that your business logo's layout/graphics closely mimmics the orginial Gleaner logo graphics. Here is a side by side for viewing.

	We're from Sparta, Michigan and awhile back someone told us about Baldwin/Gleaner being built in Sparta years ago. We did a little searching on the Internet & found out it was true, but don't have much more information than than right now. Norm Swindoll's book has a small bit of information about it also. I should check with our local historical commission to see if they have any information on old businesses in Sparta. If you'd like me to find out if there's more Gleaner information with our local historical society, please let me know via email and I'll be glad to do it. 	My Gleaner dealer is in Sparta, they have one of the best parts men anywhere there. Sparta F&L is a opleasure to work with. Didn't know they built them there at one time?

	Bruce, are you by chance a descendant of the Baldwins that designed and built the combines?

	We don’t think that we are related but it’s interesting that the brothers supposedly ran threshing machines and lived in Finney county Ks. That’s the county we are in. My grandfather also did run threshing machines for himself and neighbors. The Baldwin name is on a lot of things wish I would have gotten some of them thar smart genes. Some things I know that have been produced by the under the Baldwin name that I can think of, Locomotives, pianos, and combines.
