Just bought this Allis Chalmers 715 Backhoe. The Operators Manual shows in the listing for the Hydraulic Oil that it takes SAE5W-20 for cold weather and SAE20W-50 for warmer weather. The question is does hydraulic oil come in a SAE designation?

You could use 10/30 or even Universal Tractor Fluid with no problem .
Or if you can get it at right price ATF. Most Hyd oil R&O # does not have all the anti-wear or anti foam additives the above do

I've used universal tractor oil in my 715 and 715B for 35 years.
