have a d17 with a gleaner z that has been stroked a little looking for a stonger clutch. In the northern ky area. does anyone know of someone is this area that can rebuild one or have a new clutch thanks!!!

you could search some if wi50's posts he is building 2 disc clutches the require no other mods other than the flywheel
There are 3 ways to do job GOOD, FAST, CHEAP. YOU MAY CHOOSE 2. If its FAST & CHEAP it won't be GOOD, if it's GOOD & CHEAP it won't be FAST, and if its GOOD & FAST it won't be CHEAP!!!!

A D17 has an 11" clutch and will hold a lot more than the WC-WD45 10" clutch will.

Call Theobold Custom Manufacturing in Staceyville Iowa and they should have a core to build or send them yours. Just tell them it's for a pulling application and they will use heavier springs to increase the plate load. They're fast and reasonable.

Verry likely not needed and more work or money than most are willing to do, a twin disc is much easier to build for a D17 because the ring gear is on the engine side of the flywheel and much larger in diameter. It would be verry easy to use your existing flywheel and make a twin disc setup. With either cutting the flywheel flat and putting the pressure plate on stands. Or one could cut the step deeper and machinin 3 slots through the flywheel and makeing the floater plate with 3 drivers on it. I'd run a flat flywheel and pot the plate on stands if doing it.

Go to KY clutch in Brooks, Ky it's about 10 miles south of Louisville on I65. Talk to Chris tell him your plans and will build one for you, he built mine for my D17 with a gleaner c engine.

I would think a button clutch would hold just fine for a mildly stroked engine. You could put a little stronger springs in it to but you really don't need to have anything special. We ran a D17 with 6 1/8" stroke and 4 1/2" bore up to 6000# class with a button disc and I don't remember if we even put stronger springs in or not but you should while you have it apart.

Thanks everyone for the info. Going with a new clutch our local o'reillys ordered me a heavy duty clutch from howard industries in indiana. SHould hold well , my old clutch wouldnt hold in second mainly from wear.
