Guys: Is anyone out there reproducing the old Bostrom Coil Spring seats for the B's and C's?
I am not looking for a foam seat, I am looking for an original or near to original coil spring seat cushion. Has anyone fabricated their own seat from throw away couchs or chairs in the city. I am thinking that one could salvage the coil springs out of a couch or lazy boy chair for use to make your own B and C coil spring seats. Ideas and comments are appreciated. Thank-you....Orangeman |

Can't help you on the repro Bostrom seats but Bostrom is the company my dad worked for for 30 some odd years until they moved out of Cudahy WI to go south. My dad was offered a job down there but didn't take it as I was in high school and he didn't want to relocate the whole family. That was his second fulltime job out of high school and he worked there as a welder. When him and I would go to tractor shows he would go past all the tractors and call the model numbers of the seats and which tractors that went on by specific brand. He said that AC was one of the only tractor manufacturers out there that didn't have Bostrom make their seats. He did say that the really early B/C seats were made by them and the original covering was duck canvas. When my dad passed, my mom gave me his Bostrom cufflinks that he got there for 30+ years of service.

From Allis Chalmers 1938 Factory Sales Literature - Allis Chalmers B and C seats provided by Bostrom Manufacturing Corporation.
No mention of Monroe. Original literature stating Bostrom seat for Allis Chalmers B and C provided to me Chief of Allis Chalmers Tractor Engineering in Milwaukee Wisconsin and Branch Manager from Syracuse, New York. God rest their soles in heaven as they are no longer with us.

I believe that Leland Schwandt of Wilmot, SD may have made a few B/C seats with the original style spring cushions several years ago. A web search seems to indicate that he may be out of business. I have one of his seats on a JD 630, and it really is 100% better than any foam cushion.
