Now my memory on that machine .. LOL been a long time and wonder if i want to forget.
I believe you can get into cases from top with tanks in place , sliding that axle back and getting to the clip to be able to slide axle will have you standing on your head.
Parts , guess check rock and dirt adds for dismantle-rs for used and Minn-par for new .
Mine had a single disk clutch in it rather than multi-plate and auburn style pressure plate.
As it seemed the left side was the side I was into most but for having the case machined as the bearings on the axle shaft ate into the case the case had to have new race area welded into casting.

trying to remember how much of back of machine comes off , panle behind seat, seat, battery tray and such and if you can get into everything from the back side. believe both tanks hang outboard above tracks enough it gives you clearance to get to everything .

I BELIEVE YOU CAN PULL THE SEAT OUT AND REMOVE THE TOPS OF THE CLUTCH AREA. WHEN YOU UNHOOK THE BRAKE BAND FROM FOOT AND LEVER, WORK IT TO ONE SIDE. I USED A BENT ( 90 DEGREE ) THIN FLAT SCREW DRIVER TO LIFT THE CLIP OUT OF SLOT IN SPLINED AXLE. ONCE AXLE IS SLID OUT OF WAY, REMOVE 2 INCH PLUG FROM BACK OF FINAL HOUSING. A RING OF 6  BOLTS WILL RELEASE THE CLUTCH PACK. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LIFT THE PACK OUT WITH THE BRAKE BAND. ASSEMBLEY WILL REUIRE PROBABLY TWO PEOPLE IN ORDER TO LINE BACK UP WITH THE 6 BOLTL. BE SURE TO PUT A GUAGE 16 WIRE BENT IN AXLE SLOT WHEN REASEMBLY IN ORDER TO PULL AXLE OUT FOR CLIP WHEN BOLTED IN. A COMPLETE BRAKE BAND FROM ILLINI CONSTRUCTION PARTS IS AROUN 140.00 EACH. THEY CAN GET ANY PART YOU WILL NEED. I DEAL WITH KEVIN . KHOPE THIS HELPS RANDALEKY

you can also check some small brake shops they can get lining in bulk , I believe McMaster Carr carried it at one time also.  Some truck shops should have lining also as older trucks used emergency brake drum on driveshaft.

You are correct about standing on you head.  Nearly an impossible task for an old man who is 6'6", weighs 280 and has trifocals.   But.....I'm making progress.

Tracey Martain, I've worked on a lot of equipment(and everything else) over time but i'm just kinda getting into the AC equipment. I'm not far from you down in Murfreesboro if you ever need a hand with yours. I'd like to gain a little more experience with the lil dozers so if you ever need an extra set of hands let me know.

Awesome! Always good to meet new folks. Especially when messing around with obsolete (allis chalmers) or just plain weird (datsuns?) stuff. We own a campground here in Aurora (Aurora Oaks) and are putting in a vineyard......so I NEVER turn down free labo...I mean help. On a side note, I got rid of the engine driven fan. A 16" electric works great. I found a great parts (new and used outlet in columbus,oh. Call jack direct at 614 443 0596. Crane and Tractor Inc.
Great folks there and really went above and beyond! Tell him Mike from Aurora ky sent y'all.

Small flat spring clip that indexes into axle shaft
In some cases make a wire loop around axle before pushing it into tube as it's easy to retrieve from hole it moves into and it gives you more room to work in the clutch case .
