WD45 carb question |

Finally got to work my 45 last weekend bush hogging but the carb would not stay running unless the choke was held out all the way. Fiddled around with the carb and the only way it would run is if the main load valve was turned in all the way. Not familiar with this carb but she was a champ cutting very thick 7 foot tall weeds. Any suggestions? Also, I see where the transmission fill port is but how do you tell if it is full?

The carb might need cleaned. there should a a dip stick to tell you when it is full. If I remember correctly it is located by the battery on the left side.

Besides the engine oil dip stick, the only other one is next to the dist. cap. Which one is that?

On the left side of the tractor there is a dipstick beside the battery box. This is for hydraulics and is self explanitory on oil level. Beside the foot cluth pedal there are 2 square filler plugs on the side of the trans housing. remove each, oil should be level full in hole. Some folks use gear oil in the trans/diff like original, others use universal hydraulic oil. Its all in your preference. I use gear oil cause its thicker and doesnt leak out as fast!

Many thanks for the info-the manual is not very clear. Will be doing lots more bush hogging this weekend (going to be in the mid 90's) and wanted to be sure she didnt get thirsty.

When the choke needs to be on or partially on, you're fatting up the fuel mix. This could mean a few things. Either the engine has a fuel delivery problem, a lean condition due to a plugged idle circuit, or fuel bowls full of crud. As JC mentioned, it probably needs a good overhaul. We offer carb rebuilding if interested. We should be back up and running by the first week in October... |

There is no dipstick for the tranny & rearend. The dipstick on the left below the battery box is for hydraulic oil. The dipstick for engine crankcase oil is on the right side of the block behind the distributor.

You might want to remove the plug on the bottom of the carb, or take out the main jet, and let the fuel flow into a bucket for a few minutes. If you don't have a good flow, remove fuel line and check flow at that point. Work your way back until you get a good flow. Bob
