 Topic: AC 5020 rear axle seal help

This is my first post here but I've been reading this forum for a few years since I acquired a 1981 Allis Chalmers 5020 tractor. The rear axle seal on the right side has always leaked like crazy so I finally ordered a seal and took the wheel and hub off to replace it. The part that holds the seal in, I guess it's called an oil seal retainer or axle seal spacer ring according to google, got a bit beat up during the removal. I can't seem to find any parts diagrams that even list this piece let alone give me a part number. I could try and straighten (round) mine out but I'm thinking if it's not perfectly round it's going to just rub and possibly damage the new seal. Can somebody help me with a part number and a source for this part? I attached a picture of the part and the spring "o-ring" that goes with it. I hope I did the picture right.

I believe that part (upper) is part of the oil seal... New part may have it, but you can't see it buried in it, or the new part may be of a different style. Important thing to do is to look at the spot on the axle where the seal rides, and see if it has a groove worn into the surface, you may need a speedy-sleeve to correct a groove...

Looks to like that whole retainer and seal assembly was sold as a package. This must be a current replacement.

I could see the spring having been part of the original seal. That one was disintegrated pretty bad and came apart upon removal. That would explain that. The new seal I ordered was just a seal, no retainer. It does look like the one at Stevens Tractor is thicker with some of that ring included. I was hoping to reuse the one I had. I don't know how critical the perfect round shape is on that. The shaft is really smooth where the seal rides. The rest of it isn't too bad but I'm trying to smooth it up with emery cloth before putting the new seal on.

The other thing to check is to make sure that the axle bearings are snug, looseness will wear the seal out quick...
