on a 50 or 60 plow the rear bottom by the slip heal has a floating "shoe". What is the need for that part?

I always thought it was called a "shock shoe" to absorb the shock of just letting the plow drop at headlands. But I'm old and dumb, so that may not be right.

That arm under the last bottom is a "shock shoe" it was to keep from breaking the Cast Iron plow shares. |

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

I agree, in the owners manual it calls it a shock shoe, does not say the purpose but that is what I have been told for 60 years.
