Great Pyrenees Dog wearing a Yoke

This dog is as big as a pony.

Before the Yoke, you couldn't keep this dog in a jail; since the Yoke, I am told that thus far he has not escaped anymore; plus, the Yoke is broader than the neighbor's hen-house door, thus greatly extending his life expectancy..

I have had at least two such dogs in my lifetime; one an Australian Shepherd and the other a Border Collie; both supreme escape artists.

When I was a boy, in poor country where the fences were poor to non-existent and a 2-strand "bob-wire" was considered a good fence, it was common to see cows wearing a Yoke to prevent them escaping.

HERE is a metal example; although, most I ever saw around here were homemade wooden affairs that looked to be more effective than the metal example.

HERE is a very good description of one type of wooden homemade cow yoke.
