I have a four row narrow 330 airchamp planter and for my post season clean up I noticed one seed pad had seed lodged in it as the plastic wore through, one is not far behind, and the rest show signs of wear. As the part number 71503344 is discontinued, what do you do for a source and/or can the plastic be patched with something like packing tape or caulk?

Michael...I have a DA385 planter for about 19 years. I have never purchased a pad. It plants at least 350 acres a year. At first I made the entire pad and as time went on I started to just rebuild or repair them. I found that sizing the plate maybe one size larger made a big difference on wear and w/o noticeable doubles. The lead edge of the pad will show damage if it is picking up doubles. It is ok for that seed to jump around
in that cell after it hits the pad. One thing is the need to watch the adhesive if there is long intervals where a pad is not replaced......Go for it...Dale

I could be wrong but years ago I thought I read on here or somewhere that someone adapted the White cut off brush to work in place of the foam pad.
Also it wasn't too many years ago that there was a company offering aftermarket parts for old Allis planters. I don't remember who they were. |

OK after looking I now remember the company I thought was aftermarket is actually an AGCO dealer called Schmidt & Sons. They're only going to have actual AGCO parts. They have an online page showing planter parts. They used to show seed pads but don't now. I used to have a 330 4 row planter. I liked it and in some ways I like it better than my 5100 White.

Orangereborn, you might be on to something, I only [plant about 12 acres a year and these pads are only about 15 years old. Right now I am running 71501872 seed discs which are the mall/medium seed corn discs. I have the small 70587485, medium 70585807, and large 70586141 discs; maybe I need to go up a size and the seed is otherwise digging in the pad and wearing them out?
Lonn, do you remember what model white planter? bigal121892, I checked with the local Landoll dealer and they can't find that part number so I am guessing they can't.
