Hey everyone. Been awhile since I’ve logged in here and had to set up a new account.
I’m in search of a steering box for a W Speed Patrol. Mine is really bad and I can’t seem to find parts for a rebuild so I’m hoping to maybe find a decent box. Mine is an early bolt on front end. Not sure if the newer ones are different?? Thanks! |

Normally ALLIS did not make steering boxes.... Is there a NAME on the box ? Parts may be the same as gearbox on a JEEP or Dodge from that era ???

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

The box is a Gemmer. The worm and sector roller gear are available. The sector shaft on mine has been broke and welded. It wasn’t welded back straight and everything is just wore out. A sector shaft from an older ford truck is the right diameter but is too long and would have to be shortened and new splines cut. I did find a steering box rebuilder that had the sector shaft that I need….but…. He won’t sell it to me without “inspecting” my box personally. He wants $600 for this inspection and won’t have it any other way.
