Lose weight(I’m trying too), cut back on salt/sodium. Get plenty of sleep, avoid high fructose corn syrup, avoid anything with soy. Have lots of sex. Drink plenty of water. I take ‘Blood Pressure Support’ from Blue Bonnet Nutrition Corp. I also take a plethora of vitamins & minerals.
I have in the past been on prescription hypertension meds, one gave me a hacking cough, the other I would get light headed, if I knelt down then stood back up. 120 over 80 for bp, is out of reach for me unless on prescriptions. With proper diet, my bp is slowly coming down.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

the usual things are...
lose weight
get some exercise
eat healthy things
cut out the booze
reduce salt
get good night's sleep
stop working 80hr weeks, trying to please everyone

get RID of STRESS !!!!

last one is probably the most important.

On the foods side, if you do a lot of your own cooking, whenever possible use either butter, lard, or beef tallow when cooking in fry pans. It’s imperative to eliminate as many vegetable oils from cooking as possible.

Just as Covid was breaking out I had an annual checkup. Blood pressure was beginning to creep into the Hypertension region for the second checkup in a row. Changes were made.

My morning black coffee has a heaping teaspoon of garlic, and raw, unfiltered honey in it. You get used to it fairly quickly. I do a floor exercise routine while the coffee maker works and it's all a part of the morning routine. I've lost 25 pounds and maintain it.

I only eat what I cook. Only purchase beef and pork from farmer friends and have butchering done to provide the leanest cuts possible. I eat plenty of fruits and vegetables by choice.

From my understanding, high blood pressure runs on my side of the family, heart problems on my wife's so do what I can to keep both at bay.

My blood pressure is much better since implementing these practices over three years ago verified by three annual checkups since.
That's All Folks!

As we age calcium starts to get deposited where it does not belong, blood clots are calcium, your veins are turning to bone, less elastic.

Several Dr's swear by Vitamin K2, found only in fermented food, sauerkraut, butter, cheese, etc. notice the butter???  Comes in pills, kinda spendy.

Back in the olden days before refrigeration a lot of food was fermented, way less heart problems then.

I actually gave those garlic and beet supplements a shot a while back because I was looking for something besides prescriptions to manage my blood pressure too. I didn’t really see much difference, but honestly, I probably wasn’t as consistent as I should’ve been. What really started moving the needle for me was sticking to a decent meal plan, cooking most of my own food, and just moving more during the day. Extra pounds definitely seem to make things worse, so trimming down even a bit helped me.
If you’re into tracking your daily habits and seeing what actually helps, you might want to check out Menalam. There’s some useful tools in there to stay on top of your health routines.

Seems there are 100 supplements and each says it will effect some part of health
Problem is most seem to lighten the wallet but do little for the rest of a person .
I have been trying to cut out a few things - mainly prescription meds said to be needed .
Yes watch diet as I do my own cooking - and weight seems to be one thing , now at 80+ I seem to be 40 pounds heavier than when 65 which have not been able to shed .
34 waist back when doing excavating and millwright , 36 when driving truck and 38 when quitting that and still holding that size .
New ideas is SODIUM is needed and cutting salt to far can cause problems . I cut back on cholesterol meds and noticed after a week I could cut out the Omnaprezol  for acid reflux or sower stomach - seems between the 2 Magnesium had dropped low.
Take a potassium and also magnesium , zinc and just multi-vitamin now . Cut out the Hydrochlorathisde (water pill) as it's on the hit list if you have a CDL
Tried a few things of nagging pains in some joints but again relieved cash and not the pain . Big thing now is both hands now have cortisone shots in wrists and thumb joints which brought back most strength in hands that was going bad over last year .
Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

Chiropractic TENS treatment helped my hypertension. My Chiropractor learned his TENS treating from a school near Davenport Iowa during 1970-80s.  Ask around, other Chiropractors may have learned the same or similar?
Treatments like TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) and electric muscle stimulation can reduce pain and muscle spasms.
I believe that COVID amped my blood pressure? It steadily increased from 130 in 2020 to recently 170 when I visited an ER for Doctor of medicine treatment/tests/xrays. Tests/xrays results confirmed that my cardio was ok & had not suffered any stroke/attack. Dr at ER then recommended that I consult with a Chiropractor for pinched nerve as my left shoulder/arm was in pain & loosing feeling in left thumb/index finger.
After 3-4 TENS treatments, blood pressure was back to 125 and the first time I've slept repeatedly, solid thru the night, since COVID....!  Chiropractor shared how COVID attacks our immune & nerve systems.  TENS resets our nervous system, which inturns assists the immune system.

FWIW, total antidotal. I had covid in late 2020, spent week in hosp. Dr told my wife when admitted, 50/50 chance of survival, later was told by office staff he actually didn't think it was that good. But anyhow, what AC7060 says above I have not heard before, but I have contracted an autoimmune disease (PMR) since having covid. I cant say that one lead to the other, I'm just saying what I have experienced.
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27
