My D15 runs but smokes a lot. After a few minutes (5-8) the engine will stop. After a minute or two engine will restart and run again. What type of engine will fit into this tractor. I know I could have the engine (gas) rebuilt. Just wondering what would be the best way to go. Buy, install complete engine or rebuild engine in tractor. |

Rebuild the one you have. Buying another engine and dropping it in sounds like the easy way, but you have no guarantee how good that engine is either. As long as your block is good, you can put all new insides in it, and you'll be good for many more years.

I would vote to rebuild the one you have for the reason sited. For you immediate problem I would dissamble the fuel system from the tank outlet thru the carb and make sure it is clean. It may smoke but will probly run.
