Went to Napa and bought 3 very short v-belts. One was 18” one 20” and a 38”
$26.69, 29.39 and $30.79
The guy added up my discount and the total was $65.59
I was in complete disbelief.

Are you sitting down ??!!!
Finally got a 'quote' to..
rip off old roof of garage
lay down 24' long TJI floor joists, deck it
put up 2 walls of 2by6,sheathed,vinyl siding
4/12 rood trusses, sheethed  and shingled
insulate and sheath the 4 walls, and 4 windows...
so a BASIC  'shell', NO interior wall, no plumbig, no electrical...

$92,000 + 13% taxes !

Oh yeah... I have to get drawings and permits...ugh, deal with 'city hall'.

I needed some high temp plastic rod today. 1/4 diameter was 67.89 per inch. That is sticker shock. Tracy

Try the v-belt guys (google it) They are like a third of the price that my dealer charges for lawn mower belts.  Save the old sleeves so you have the size handy...Wink

NAPA has gone crazy. I stopped to get an oil filter for my truck; $35. I went to the Ford dealer and got a Motorcraft for $22.

NAPA & TSC are two places I don't waste my time going to anymore.
#1 There doesn't seem to be anyone that knows how to look up anything unless it shoes up when they "Google" it
#2 Anything I'm looking for is never in stock.
#3 Then I'm asked to pay shipping for something that should be on the shelf.
#4 I can always find anything at a lower price and have it delivered to my front door, often with FREE shipping.
I really would like to do business with local places, however The HD truck parts place locally is about the only place I can go to and walk out with everything on my list crossed off.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

I buy belts in bulk from Amazon. A $10 A41 at the local poultry supply house is $6.40 when you buy 10 from Amazon. It makes sense for us to buy this way because we've got 24 fans that use this belt. Doesn't make sense if you just need one though.

i have bought several things on AMAZON that are no longer available locally... And the price is "better" than local ( if they have it ).

I have two manual barrel pumps and wanted two 5 ft clear 1 inch hoses to put on them ( to fill 5 gal buckets) .... Local hardware was $6. A FOOT............ got on AMAZON for  $25. for 10 ft piece... and it was Reinforced with nylon thread, where local was just tygon.

Yeah,,I got introduced to that "Sticker Shock" last week when I had to replace a 4 year old water heater that cost me $368 4 years ago,,,the same "replacement" Saturday was $768,,,,more than twice the original,,,,?
I also do not go into Napa for same reason and have started to use mail order when there is time to wait. I now  use Walmart.com to order all kinds of things and all is with FREE delivery where amazon makes you have to buy over $50 for free dilivery

Our choices in our small town are Oreilly’s who hire kids and adults that don’t know a spark plug from a air filter
And Napa who have been good to me through put the years and have a couple real parts men.
Itwice lately they’ve
Knocked some off the price for me but still way out of line on pricing. Used to always beat Oreilly’s with my discount.
Now it seems I only get the discount when I look shocked at prices.
At Oreilly’s if they can’t push a button to get your part it isn’t happening.
I really don’t like ordering crap online.
Guess I’m gonna have to change.
