    Posted: 17 Dec 2022 at 8:10pm

When I first went to start it this season, it would not start so had to take it to local saw mechanic shop.......Got new fuel line and carb adjustment

Ran fine .......now it's dying if you let up on the trigger at all........then won't start

Sounds more pop pop like a roto tiller motor than a chain saw

The only time it has enough energy to cut like it should is when it runs out of gas......then won't start for awhile..... runs great when it first starts then goes back to slow as soon as you start cutting........ a termite could eat away the tree faster than my saw cuts

Thanks!

Coupla things to check, sucking air from a cracked fuel line, leaning out the mixture. clogged fuel filter in tank.  Plugged up exhaust spark arrester screen. HTHWink

firs thing I would is to change the filter in the tank.  Also do the fuel lines look like they are new?

Just to clarify, you are saying that it blubbers along running poorly and then just before it runs out of gas it revs up strong for a few seconds?

If so, this indicates that it is running WAY rich (too much fuel).

Check for choke not opening correctly or plugged air filter, then try adjusting the high-speed jet. The spark plug is probably starting to get fouled by now from the overly rich mixture.

The other thing that causes overly rich, is a plugged exhaust, and they DO get all plugged up with carbon soot.

The symptom you described can also be the result of crankshaft or crankcase seals leaking.

What make and model is this saw?

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
