Does anyone know or have experience with the new mini battery operated chainsaws that are being advertised on facebook ? there is even one with Stihl's name on it .

Father in law has a Ryobi. We built a barn and used it to cut the tops off 15 or 16 posts on one battery. I didn't think it would last that long but it did. I wouldn't want to cut a winters worth of fire wood with it but for limbing or quick stuff like that it works great

I have a ryobi, cause I have a lot of other ryobi tools and batteries. That's the main reason, but it was on black friday sale, so I upgraded to a new one $88 for a brush model (bare tool). Remember that a brush model will have more torque, but eats up the battery faster. My advice is to get the brand you already have, cause you already have the batteries...

next door a M18 ? milwakee, guy likes.... ryobi 40v, lukewarm(ok he broke it...) I'd like an 18V ryobi just cause I have 6 ryobis here already... DIY is right !!!

I have a 36 volt one I got from Amazon. I carry it in the front box of the quad when I'm out fencing. It has a 6" bar and easily cuts the tree fells on the fence line. I've cut it 30 to 40 branches in one location and never run out of power. I do carry a spare battery but never had to use it. If I have trees larger than 6" I go back to the truck and bet a big saw. The only thing I dont like about it is the lack of an oiler. I carry a small hotel sized squirt bottle of bar oil in my pocket and oil between cuts. After a year of use I'm still on the first chain I've touched it up once.

all my battery saws are B&D, have had 3 of them given to me and I bought a polesaw, I thought I would have to buy another brand because of the batteries getting harder to find...then a local store had a special on new B&D batteries and I bought a bunch of new ones at a very good price. the saws will live longer now! saw a new Dewalt saw in a store yesterday and it was on sale for $179. had a 8 inch bar.

I've actually been debating if I should get running an old Homelite xl top handle saw with about a 9" bar, that's in good shape. Or if I'd be better off with a small battery saw.

I replaced my B&D batteries with lithium ion replacement them make them to fit the older B&D firestorm. Did have to buy a new charger compatable like new equipment.my wife realy noticed the Nicads on the weed wacker weren't good when new. It came with the cheepest batteries made lasted 10 to out of power new Lion last a couple hours. Then suddenly go dead. Only down side is they don't work if you leave outside in the cold below Zero nothing. I keep in a heated shop so not a problem.

I bought a Llynxx at Harbor Freight and have 3 batteries for it and am cutting up a red oak the the storm this summer blew down when them 3 batteries and done I am too.

Where do you guys dispose of them? Had several where nobody would take them, got lucky wheee a scrapper took them so called them back no longer accepting as cannot unload what have. Why are NO recyclers for these?
Batteries Plus will not repair or exchange them here. Lowes has eliminated the drop cans for them here.

I have both 18V and 20V B&D tools. I see on youtube how to repair the old dead 18V batteries from 18V HF batteries, they are cheaper than buying new B&D batteries.

Kinda wondered how many dead drill battery packs equals an EV battery ? There are MILLIONS of dead Lithium cells being tossed into local landfills here as they cannot be 'economically' recycled. Since they're encased in plastic( the housing) very little chance they'll ignite and cause a dramatic landfill fire..another 'out of site, out of mind' problem though.
