What is the loader lift capacity for a 185 with a 500 loader on it? I got to unload a truck that may have 2000-3000 lb pallets. Im thinking 2000 lbs is ok but not sure about 3000 lbs

I’m not sure but think 2000 is over the lift capacity.

Lifted an N6 engine out of the combine with a 185. I should say the guy I bought the engine from lifted it with his 185. IMO that was too much for a tractor like that. I don't remember what he had for a loader but that front end looked like it was going to fold up. He backed straight back out of the shed then I backed the pickup under the engine. I was waiting for a spindle to snap. An N6 engine must be around 1,700 lbs.

I have loaders on a 185 and 180 I'd cut those number in half.

The load rating may be from the bucket pin area, not actually in the bucket itself.

Clamp on forks move the pallet wt completly out in front of the bucket greatly reducing loadrating
You can wash the dirt off the body but you can’t wash the farmer out of the heart and soul

Have a set of forks for my 500 on a 180, due to Hydraulic pump age and wear, small dia of cylinder barrels and Reliefs settings in the controls mine will ONLY raise 2000 pounds.  As far as front tires compressing is about all I will EVER put to it.

1981 brochure for 185 says: Lifting capacity to full height: 3400 lbs. Carrying cap. @ 3 ft. 3400 lbs. Max. Breakaway force: 4000 lbs. Max.

I think the full height value might be a typo since the other models (for 5040/5050/6060/6080) that carry ~3400 at 3 ft. are only rated to 1800-2000 at max height.

Maybe, or they figure a 4000 lb tractor SHOULDN'T be carrying 3400 lbs overhead for fear of upsetting it ?? Where the 9000 lb 180/185 might be harder to tip over. ??
