I recently started taking paint off my Allis G and noticed the whole original first coat of paint was white. Did Allis ever build demonstrator models like Farmall? In the the last couple years, we stripped a B & C to be repainted and never had white as the first original coat of paint. Primer? Any ideas?

Someone probably painted it white at some point in the last 70 years...

My D-10 has some kind of yellow paint under the orange. I know it's never been repainted before. I figured it was some sort of primer. Who knows, perhaps they used different colors as primers.

They started using yellow stuff sometime in the 60s. Prior to that, they just used lots and lots of orange paint. |
