 Topic: WD side mount sickle mower ID Please!

Can anyone give me a model number for this mower - it is supposed to be off of a WD45. Anyone have pictures of one mounted on a tractor? Good mower, bad mower, junk? I don't have a lot of ground to cover, mainly looking to piddle and play with the WD. What's it worth?

Looks like a #5. Made for the B, C, and CA. Major fabrication would be needed to mount this mower on a WD. Probably better to look for an 80 or 82 series mower...

Not doubting you Brett, but the guy said his father in law used it on the WD45 that he now has. Second opinion anyone? He could be confused, no doubt. Anyone have a pic of a 80-S?

Looking at the pics again it looks like a B/C mower BUT on the back it appears to have had brackets placed on it that would maybe hook into the rear hitch on a WD. They are angled about the same as the rails that the draw bar bails ride on, so maybe its a B/C made to work on the WD. Sorry for the big fonts, just making it easier for me to see:)

Please note that this is a #5, not the "garden variety" B/C mower, although it also fits the B and C tractors with the right brackets. The #5 is a different animal that was designed primarily for the CA and its longer wheelbase. Differences from the B/C mower include curved front mounting braces, integral hydraulic cylinder mount for hydraulic lift, and dual groove drive pulleys. One similarity and drawback is the lack of any safety "break-back" feature in the event that the bar hooks something solid while moving. Judging from the rear mounting brackets, it looks like this mower was last mounted on a CA tractor. When used on the B and C tractors, the #5 mounts to the drawbar with tapered shims, bolts, and turnbuckles just like the B/C mower.

Adam, I think Brett is right, that's a number 5 mower, and per AGCO's online parts books, those brackets are indeed for a CA. Could it be made to work on a WD... maybe, but apparently it was never a factory option. You might watch for a number 3 single-wheel rear mount mower too. The parts books show mounts for the WD on that one. We've got one in the family, and another in the works for the B's and C's.

I have an 80 s mower. It has a flat plate that uses J hooks to attatch to the frame rail. That mower looks nothing like it. It runs from a belt driven shaft under the belly of the tractor driven from the PTO

Last mounded on a "CA" with pin hitch. Not Snapcoupler. Got one like forsale 50.00 dollars.
