Hey guys I was checking out grandpas 51 WD yesterday and I was wondering how do you tell the difference between factory and non-factory power steering? Thanks for the help! Blake

A WD was never offered with factory power-steering. The first allis with factory power-steering was the 1956 WD-45.

Here's a shot of a factory power steering unit on a WD45. No Allis didn't install them on WDs, but the dealers did put them on WDs after the units came out on WD45s.
Some place I have the kit part number but can't find it right now, I might be getting old or something I know it's around here someplace. lol
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

I have the booklet that came with grandpas power steering on his WD when he had the dealer install it. Now if I could only find it! Haven't seen it since we moved 3 years ago.
I have 2 other WDs that have factory power steering. Must have been a popular add on.

Yeah,if you ever run the cultivator on a WD you'd know why p/s was a popular add on.

The only time I ever wanted power steering was cultivating with a 4 row front mount on a WD45 diesel, you knew you put in a day by sunset.  WDs with loaders were child's play compared to that.

Don, why didn't I take pictures of my 1954 WD45 while replacing the pump a few years ago? LOL My power steering is factory PS but dealer installed since the tractor was 2 years old before they came out with PS. And there are WD's out there with dealer installed factory PS.

Our neighbor on the farm had factory power steering on a WC.  His son
has it now.  It does make people look.  Den
