Might be useful, Delco Remy is now Remy International.

If anyone is tracking their electrics, and have Delco part numbers, go to

http://remyinc.com/Productsupport.aspx

Then click the E-Catalogue box and enter the Delco number and see what comes up.

I found this in researching a starter problem on our AC 45 grader - in that case the original starter number leads straight to a modern drop-in replacement (M 42).

However my auto electrician (very practical, unfortunately near retirement) straight way said "Avoid and get an M 40"

I haven't needed to try for other parts

Replaced the starter on all the HD5 machines i have had with the M40 - had a outfit that gave me a good core rebate  for the old starters and with new ones with solenoid one could put key switch on machine .

Our 45 has the starter with the solenoid so it was mostly already wired. It now has a second solenoid to lessen the load on the key switch - on advice of that same autolec
