Looking at D-19 gas. Appears from pictures to be fairly straight. Narrow front . Where their more narrows than wide? Are wide hard to find? Will a Wde from a D-17 fit? With out pictures I know would be hard to appraise but could you maybe give me a idea and what else to look at. Thanks

A D-17 series 3 or 4 diesel front axle should fit, although the front casting for the axle pivot pin is unique to the D-19. The D-17 casting would fit and work, but will look funny.

Is a narrow more rare? Not going to do a lot with it . Would it be more desirable later on with a narrow?

For farming I'll take a WF any day over a NF but that's me.

Here we had quite a few D19's around the countryside. I never seen a narrow front on one. I would never buy one with a narrow front. Dad bought a new D17 in 1959 with a mounted picker thus a narrow front end. He also bought a factory wide front end. As soon as the picker came off, the wide front end went on.

Try to find the NF and Factory NF Chin Weight and you have a real desirable set up!

I agree wit Steve narrow fronts went away for a reason. Rough ride, hard to steer. Easy to roll over. Experience talking.

Really? I have seen a whole lot of farming done with NF tractors of all brands.I've had D19 tractors with NF,WF and single wheel front they all worked the same. Each has their advantage and disadvantage doing various jobs.

According to Norm Swinford's book, less than 10% were narrow front.
