Someone posted a while back about a screen in the power steering on a D17 I bought one with a bad pump. I've flushed the pedestal but haven't found a screen. The parts book doesn't show it. I  will have to get another pump but don't want to shuck it if supposed to have sreen. Any info appreciated, thanks.

You are correct, the parts manual and my tractor (series II) do not have a screen located inside the front housing.  It is possible this was an effective xyz issue, but My manual was printed in '83, so I would think I have all the updates.

The screen is attached to the inlet fitting that is screwed into the housing, at least on mine it is. Call out #7 on page 272 of the parts manual is what the screen is attached to on mine. It doesn't show in the picture there being a screen on it. Maybe somone found a nice screen and added it to mine? It looked better than homemade on mine anyway.

Brian,

Since not all manuals are published at the same time, what is the title of the illustration?  I would like to see what you are talking about?

Thanks,

Anthony
