D17 on 6ft tiller WOW!!

   I have been behind on planting due to the cool wet conditions here in Illinois and as a result had to work one of the fields a little more damp then usual the other day resulting in a section that was a little cloddy. I bought a 6ft tiller last year and never really used it (other than one pass around the field edge just to see if everything was working ok) today I matched it up to the D17 and headed out to the spot that had the clods and WOW! talk about a clod buster! I mean just pulverized it to good planting soil. The tiller is a bit on the heavy side weighing in at just a little under 800 lbs but the D17 ran it around that field like a dance partner LOL! she let out a soft bark once or twice but that was it. If you have had any doubts about running a tiller like that on a D17 I'm here to tell you it will do it with no problem at all! ya gotta love those D17's!!!!

	I used to run this Howard 5' Rotovator on my D17 gas and it would make her bark from time to time. I then switched it to a 170D and man what a difference in torque! The diesel just made tilling a lot more comfortable. Now it is on this 175D this year...I've done almost 75 jobs and close to $4k this year...and customers are impressed at how smooth a setup it is. This old Howard weighs in at about 1000#.....I gave $1000 for it about 8 years ago, been through a couple sets of tines...but a pretty good money maker out here in the rocks! Last week I killed the tractor for the first time. Didn't even get time to push in the clutch...one big rock pulled up just right, only one broken tine, but it was a well worn tine....

	Dennis, Sounds like a good deal. Don't want to brag but canning last batch of green beans today. Should have close to 100 pints. Also going to be canning some sweet corn. Have a great day. God Bless.

	I use a 4ft tiller on the back of my 5020. I realy like that one in first low it works great plus it has paid for its self in one year on tilling jobs. Iam lucky I have not hit any big rocks but last week I found a 5ft steel pipe about 1 inch round in the ground that made the tiller jump.

	well to make you feel even better , my beans & corn are just starting to pop out of the ground. I tilled my garden with a AC 712H & 48" tiller. It also does an awesome job. my sons using it now to till up his yard and level it out. looks good.
