So my latest edition (1959 d17) started and idled perfectly before I just put a full tank of gas in it so I'm guessing that by me doing this it stirred a bunch of sidewall junk up and now it's working its way through my tractor and causing idling and running issues because it would idle forever before with no sputtering and now it's very unstable. My questions are which I've seen on here before but cannot seem to find with the search bar, how to thoroughly rinse/ clean a tank out and also the rest of the gas system including the carburetor (which I'm guessing I can just remove and thoroughly clean all the Jets with carb cleaner and check that the float is good?)
Thanks Matt |

I would first drain the contents of the carb. Bowl into a white coffee mug to see if any junk or water comes out. I would then let it drain for a couple of minutes to be sure it has good steady flow. Also make sure the sediment bowl has the screen in place as this will keep the junk from making it to the carb. You may still have to remove the tank and carb for a good cleaning but I would try the simple stuff first if possible.
