about 30 minutes use. Was going uphill, govenor kicked in, turned off the road and depressed clutch to down shift and just died. Back to the house grabbed the 14 and towed her home. An hour later checked fuel line, getting fuel, starting checking for spark and acted like it wanted to start so turned gas on and fired right up. I'm thinking coil, Sound about right. And what is the large nut on the back of the distributor for?

If it happens again pull the drain plug from the carb. and see if you have fuel. If no fuel then it's fuel supply problem or float. Do it right away not an hour later. If plenty of fuel flows then look to ignition.

My D-14 does that sometimes on a hot day. I think it vapor locks cause I can loosen the fuel cap and the tank breathes. It will start right up after that. On a hot day after a parade I just leave the fuel cap (it is a new one) a little loose.

Nick did you buy the fuel cap because of this problem or did it start after you got it. It sounds like your tank isn't vented right.
