I bought a family of tractors and In That family is a d15 series 1 made in 1962 with a factory 3 point hitch wide front end and a 160cu Diesel engine. Everything I have found says that doesn’t exist. I have talked to 2 different dealers and they both are telling me that was a test tractor that Allis built and used onsite. Is there anybody that can help me with more extensive knowledge. The serial number for the tractor shows it is a 1962 the engine serial number from the two dealers shows it is a160 diesel. But being on a series 1 they are saying it would only exist ias a factory test tractor.
Please give me some more knowledge and thank you in advance

That was 60 years ago... Engines fail and are replaced... Some tractors crap out and two are combined to build one.... a lot can happen in 60 years..
Post the Engine Serial Number..

I believe the series 1 GAS engine was 149 inch... the Series 2 GAS engine was 160 inch... the diesel was an option in the Series 1 and continued to the series 2..... 175 inch ?

Per the dealer the diesel was not an option in series one but in series 2 it was. The only two options for series one was 149 and 160 gas I understand a lot can happen in 60 years I’m trying to get more knowledge about the tractor from 60 years ago I want to know what options were available and if anyone has any insight on quote test tractors. Both dealers told me the same thing and they are in separate states. Trying to get more information

Your dealers are wrong... The gas motor was originally 149... then later it was increased to 160 inch........ The diesel was separate and used in both Series.
What is your motor stamped serial number ?

Have two D15 series I diesels, only option was gas (149 cu) and diesel

I too have a 1961 D15 Series 1 diesel. 175 Cubic Inch 4 cylinder.
160 Cubic inch gas came out with the Series 2.

Hard to say what it is from your discription but can say for sure what it is not, a 160CI diesel. The two dealers are wrong on all counts ok? Yes there were series one diesels, no they were not 160 CI. All d15Ds were 175CI. Gas series one were 149 and series two were 160CI. Couple decent pictures would help us to figure out what it is. For every true "factory test tractor" story told that told there are 100 lies told by BS artists trying to sell a pig

Used to be a dealer at Elkwood VA that put all sorts of combination tractors together using B,C,CA,D10,12,14,15 models to set up with Woods mowers.He used whatever he had at the time to build one made some interesting tractors.

You say factory three point on a series I ? Measure the frame width as a series II is wider than a series I . A few pics would say lots. Tom

Nope. D-15 and D-17 are both the same frame width and wider than a D-14.

Years ago dad bought a D15 parts tractor with a wide front. We put that front end on a series II D15 and had to redrill the holes in the front end. So I thought the series I D15 was a narrow frame like a 14? Maybe the parts tractor was a 14 ? Tom

D-14 IS NARROWER THAN ANY D-15 OR D-17 !! by about 2 inches total. D-15 and D-17 are the SAME width.
