 Topic: D15 Series II Rear Weights

I just bought a late model D15 Series II with loader. I just realized tonight that the rear tires are loaded, but it doesn't sound like they are full. I was looking to put a wheel weight on it for loading logs this winter. The weights I have look like Allis, but there are no casting #s. I am guessing they are 150lbs each. Just looking for advice to see if it would be good to run the weights with the loaded tires.

D15s used 4 section pie weights on the rear wheels. If I remember correctly, each section weighed 55 lbs. I sold them a few years back.

Hey D,This tractor came from up in your neck of the woods.I have a set of pie weights off of a D17.I held one up to the rim and it looks like 4 will fit on the rim. The wheel weights i have are for 28" rims, but they have the same 14" centres on the holes. They will bolt on but wont be right up against the rim. I will have to use longer bolts.

D15 and D17 wheel centers are different - will not fit. D15 centers have a flat face, D17 centers are dished - the weight sections will not sit properly on it. The square holes are the only things that are the same.

As to weights and loaded tires yea you can do it. But how do you plan in using the d15 most of the time? I have a grapple that picks up 15 square bales on my d15 in the summer and a bucket I use when I am not haying. I have loaded tires and they are not enough for the grapple. Which is too heavy for the d15 really not for the loader but for the tractor. So when I hay I add a 3 point counter weight and go slow and easy on the tractor. Not a great idea but it does get the job done. I think the loaded tires alone on a d15 are plenty of weight if you go more then that I think it is really just allowing you to over load the tractor and the front end. That is how I feel driving mine and yes as I said I do do it but I only run the extra weight when I need to.

I have the WD rear wheel weights on my D-15 series II. I just had to repaint them from Persian orange #2 to the cream color and they worked just fine. Hope that helps.

I used a set of CA rear weights on mine. Everything seemed to fit OK.

I will only be using it at the landing for loading logs. Will likely take the weights off after that. The loader has a front mount pump. It sure works better now that I put a 1/2" line from the pump to the valve instead of the 3/8 that was on there.

A counter weight would help more to ballance the logs and lift a little weight off the front end. Wheel weights will provide more traction but won't help with the front end weight and steering.
