Doing the brakes on this tractor I am restoring. One side the correct brake shoes with 2 pads on it. The other side has a 1 piece pad riveted to the entire shoe. Is there any problem riveting a 1 piece pad to the original on the other side?
The shoes on both sides do have the same number stamped on them, so it looks like someone drilled holes in it to secure the 1 piece pad in place. Will D14/D15 Series 1 pads fit these shoes and work properly?
Bad oil seals soaked the brakes on both sides. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

Series 2 D-15's came with "cera-metallic" brake pads. Their claim-to-fame was that when using the brakes heavily and often in the field, they had more braking power when hot, where the old full faced brake lining would fade and have less braking power when hot. Either style works, just the newer works better in a high use/high heat situation.

I did put Series 1 linings on the shoes. In looking at the parts book, it shows 3 spring washers for each side (effective Serial number 9001). This tractor only had 2 spring washers. Are 3 really necessary?

I've taken many of them apart and never found any spring washers in there. None were ever used in the D10/12/14 & G which use the same brake components.

did you stack 2 thin oil seals in place of the single original wide one ?
I used National # 471765.... for some silly reason there's TWO of them next to me..
