Are all wide front ends for D12s interchangeable?..serI & serII are they the same?

My Service Manual Model D-10 And D-12 Tractors there was a change at D-12-2277 giving a spacing of 50 to 74 inches.
It reads to me that the change only effected the length of the axel. Dusty
