Seems like all of the auctions I've been to with dad over the years that had combines in them, the combine has the grain table on the machine and the corn head was beside it but sold separately. Can someone explain the reasoning ?? Thanks

My guess would be the corn head is more valuable than the grain table. If it were the other way around, the grain table would not hardly bring anything? In other words, if you want the combine, you have to take the grain table with it.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Around here older combines have incorrect row spacing for the corn heads, they often sit in the shed and grow dust.

usually combines by themselves don't bring very much, most any head will bring more than the combine. if they sell a head with the combine, it'll bring more money. i've seen alot of real nice combines sell just in the 100's of $, and the head to fit it sell in the thousands. weird!
