Looks like a row crop head. They look a lot like a corn head, but lack snapping rolls and deck plates in place of a gathering belt and knives.
They were once popular for beans, sunflowers and the like. Supposedly quite good at what they did, but never really caught on. Here is a similar model brought to you by Deere. http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=6476601& Edited by Roddo - 16 Oct 2011 at 9:12pm |

we bought a k a few months ago so i could put this exp. head on and try it. After getting it on have been able to look under it. The head has 7 ten inch rows and a snapping roll on only one row (the far right side), a local case mechanic was just looking at it with me,and it has left both of us scratching our heads, hope to try it soon to see what happens.

Back in the day when guys were just starting to think about narrow row corn using only one snapping roll was the way that it was done. Since then with the advent of 20 inch rows the OEM engineers have come up with better solutions.
40 years ago one of the seed companies experimented with solid seeded corn, a 10 inch head would be one way to deal with that.

with the mods shown in the pic, appears someone has moved "in" from a larger head! that'll make that "K" grunt! but it'll handle it in 1st gear in 100 bu corn! may hafta run that truck along side to keep unloading!! show us another pic...from the front! and maybe outta the cab winder!

That head was able to harvest any row with of corn if u had 20,30,or40 inch corn
Thats a prototype head, Allis built 5 allcrop heads in the 70 those went to scrap. |
