I have overhauled the engine on my CA and wondering about putting the head gasket on "dry" or using some type of sealant. The CA service manual says to use a non-hardening gasket cement. What about using Permatex Copper Gasket Spray on the new gasket?

Thanks in advance for suggestions
Mike

Use a skim coat on both sides of the gasket around the outside perimeter, from the edge to 1/4" in from the edge. Also around the water holes and push rod holes both sides of the gasket.                                                    Hylomar Non-Setting, Non-Hardening Gasket Sealant, 100 g, Blue, Temp Range -58 to 572 Degrees F HUB003 | Zoro

Check out my WC Dilema above!  I would highly recommend the anerobic gasket sealer!  It has excellent sealing properties and stays flexible.  I used a Permatex Anerobic Gasket Sealer product, Locktite has one also, as well as the Hylomar product shown.  I wouldn't install it dry...it's no fun doing it twice.
