Here are a few pics from me making my 190xt bareback.  Made a cover plate and a support for the PTO shaft.  (Had to sacrafice my old pto shaft by shorting it)
Its hard to see, but it does have the 4 pinion differential in there.Smile

Good job, should work! Tap those axle caps while its apart make sure they are tight, they do pop off sometime

Yup, I checked that.  I also stuck a large magnet to the bottom of the housing to help attract any metal particles.

Hi i see this ad is a little old but hoping someone can chime in here to help, but im looking to do the same thing to my xt. I wanna remove the old housing to loose weight, but been researching and seen this ad hoping to answer my question, why did you keep the pto shaft, can that not just be simply pulled out and left out with just a plate in the housings place?

It will transfer oil from rear to frt and back.  You could pull shaft out and put freeze plug where seals are to stop oil transfer.

Yes. It will mix hyd oil and rear end/Trans oil without something in there. It was just easier to cut the shaft off and leave it in there than to come up with another way.

No I don't think so. Remove the pto housing on the bottom of the tourque tube and pull pto shaft and seal. Get a freeze plug the same size of your seal. Mines a 7000 a little different but that's what I did to mine. Plus you get rid of more weight. The freeze plug can be put in from the rear but a driver will have to be a long one. Strap together 2 2.5 gallion oil jugs together and make a sheet metel block between axel caps high enough to block diff and put jugs in rear end. It will take a lot less oil. Tight but they will go in. It will also hold plugs in. Bolt to top with nuts welded to diff stop. Might want to remove top plate so bolt it.

I think what Bob is referring to is the removal of the hydraulic power director clutch - low /neutral /high on the go shift. The reason for that is because they will slip in high horsepower applications. They will also potentially explode in high RPM applications which may potentially remove your legs. So depending on what your plans are and what level of power you want to run determines whether you will remove the PD clutch or not.

As of now i have bigger injectors, think from 7010 or 7080 dont remimber whichw.e biggest i can fit and pump turned up so guessing 150 hp? As of now not looking to spend any money in motor yet just wanna loose weight and strenght drivetrain if possible.

If you are at 150 - 200 HP and you remain at no more than 3,000 RPM the power director should hold just fine. You may have to increase the pressure to it a little. As long as the rest is in good condition it will work. You should increase the spring pressure on the flywheel clutch and be sure it is in good condition. Use a four pad clutch disk. More pads do not hold more power. Just the opposite.

See how much room there is in the pic from the diff to the plate your goin to instal. Put jugs in to take up room it will take less oil. Just helpin to save weight while your already there.

Thank you ill be sure to remimber that about clutch but ill wait till mine goes out, still holds strong as of now, but about the flywheel spring how much of increase are you talking about.

Now i know what your talking about, how much oil difference you thinking. Btw im thinking of running lucus in my engine with shell 15w40, what do u guys suggest running in everyother compartment, just s.w.e 80 trans oil?

Good question: I watched Dr. Allis do several of these. It requires using feeder beater springs from a Gleaner combine installed inside of the existing springs in the pressure plate. The Gleaner springs need to have 2 - 3 coils cut off to shorten the length. Then use six of them equally spaced around the pressure plate. Not every existing spring gets a Gleaner spring installed. This is all from memory. Maybe Dr. Allis will chime in and give more accurate details.

Not sure but every little bit helps. My tractor is in a 6500 class and mine is 6380 with me. Not much moveable weight.

Just an observation but I would guess two 2 2.5 gallon jugs would displace roughly 5 gallons of oil. Saving roughly 50 lbs. Also saving the cost of 5 gallons of oil.

Not sure what kind of classes you are going to be running, but I am putting my 3 pt/ pto housing back ON this winter because several pulls require it. Most of my pulls are farm "stock" with a 7 mph speed limit. I am running a setup similar to yours. 7080 injector tips, all I can get out of the db2 roosa master pump(a little over 200cc's), 3000 rpm and a slightly larger turbo. I had to increase my pd pressure a little, and get a heavier clutch. If you plan on running a hot farm or unlimited speed class it's going to take a lot more to be competitive.

Im liking the idea more and more about the oil dispacement idea being i just un did my plugs and seeing its close to 10 gal just in the rear= save money and weight. Do you have a picture of what you did? And to answer 2wise4agm my pulls are little different here on eastern shore, rulls here dont requir 3 pt housing to be on and im gonna be running stock and antique classes. 3.5 mph with non cuts and 5 mph with cuts depending on track and my mood lol. I can get away with antique because rules here are 1965 and older, im 1964 so ill have a very large competive ege not to mention i see that rule changing to 64 like it should be cuz of me haha. First time pulling with this tractor and a diesel for that fact so itll give me a year for learning my tractor. Motor wise im pretty sure the guy who i bought it from didnt change the tips they just took injectors from a 7080 i guess same difference as you? Appears to be stock turbo, idk if i wanna change that scared to hurt the stock engine with out head swap and oil pump change. My goal is to get the tractor close to 5,000 lbs if possible.

I have a 200 front bolster(hollow), no pto housing, pressed steel wheels(with 38' radial tires), and I only put about 5 gal. of fuel in it and mine weighs 7150. Gonna be tough to get down to 5000 unless your club has very few rules.

We have a 200 that we pull in 6500-10000.WE have a D15 front, 3/8 plate bolster,Press steel rims 38,You will need a lot of aluminum. The pto is in it,for dyno. We are allowed 2600 rpm@150hp.stock class.

Im having troubles trying to find a freeze plug for the size i require, i took my pto clutch housing off and need to cap the hole off, anyone here done the same, if so what did you use to cap the hole its dia is 2.431"
