This auction near Grand Rapids, Michigan had 3 Allis dozers on it.  A model 653 HD-4 diesel bulldozer with 6 way blade brought only $2,800.  A smaller HD-4 diesel with bucket loader & stump ripper brought $4,600; and an HD-4 diesel with 6 way blade went for $4,000.  A 1920 Reo Speedwagon, partially restored with new tires and all parts went for only $2,700!  1946 IHC flat bed dually with a rebuilt gas engine (uninstalled) went for $1,450.  Mitch & Barb in West MI

Mitch: thank- you for posting the auction results, very helpful. I am looking at an HD-3 around the $3500.  Choice will be between an HD6 and the H3.  Each has it own place as far as use.

Yes, Darrell, that was the same auction.  That Detroit diesel engine sold for $2,000.  Before he decided to go to auction, the owner wondered whether he should sell the heavy equipment for scrap, but decided to try to sell them on auction to see what they'd go for.  I'm glad he didn't scrap them.  They were too good for that!  They had a bunch of engines - from small hit & miss ones to an Ajax Superior "oil field" engine with a 62" flywheel.  That Ajax engine was on a triple axle trailer that just shook when that engine ran, according to one buyer.  Ground shook too!  (Similar to an engine at the Buckley, MI steam engine show.)  That big Ajax brought $2,900.  I'd heard that an Amish fellow wanted to buy it to run his sawmill.  Don't know if he got it or not.  Lots of unusual items you don't see at most auctions and some stuff you'll never see again.  A 1920 REO Speedwagon sold for only $2,700!   My wife went to the auction & said it was really neat to see all that old equipment & engines.  Mitch & Barb in West Michigan.
