There is an auction in Hermann MO this week Thursday. I drove by yesterday. Its a JD dealer but has a few AC items
There is a AC Silage blower, cultivator, 210 & 170. I grew up with the current owners they are selling out to a larger dealer http://wheelerauctions.com/main/Auctions/20101230LSEquip/20101230LSEquip.htm |

This is their annual consigment sale. They do it at this time so that they can do you a bill of sale for 2010 or 2011, however you prefer for your tax situation. They are a real nice bunch of people that work there.

Yeah, John Deere is following in Cat's foot steps by cutting down the amount of dealership owners. Same thing is happening here. The local dealer has atleast nine stores now and is not showing any signs of slowing down. There was one store that alot of the JD guys went to around here because they did not want to support the large multiple store system. Deere pulled his franchise at the beginning of the year claiming he was not obtaining enough market share, although you drive by his lot and you would see there was a lot of competitive brand equipment sitting there. Its a sign of the times, but I'm going to believe in the independent dealers as long as I work at one! lol

Doug, From what I hear, the Bocktings were trying to sell L&S for several years. It was not JD that closed them.

That could be, a JD dearships a hot deal , but to remain independant is impossible now , I figured JD forced them ; supposedly thats what happened to other JD dealers wanting to keep their name on the sign , Tipton, Westphailia , etc,--- ah well its over now

I think this is done most of the time to pull a sprayer. It helps to transfer the weight and the suzuki would be rather nimble, I would think. I think some of the guys on new ag talk discussed this different times. I wouldn't be surprised if the idea first showed up in the "Farm Show" publication. There are a lot of people out there with some interesting ideas.

Two % is pretty reasonable considering what some of the auctioneers are charging.

from what I heard from my family that lives in the area, they were talking for a few years but JD was pushing pretty hard. BTW the nephews of Steve still run an ARCO dealer in my home town of Morrison Mo just 10 miles to the west. |

JJ...you must be talking about Kevin and Kent Bockting of Bockting Equipment in Morrison. Pretty good folks to say the least. I believe it's their uncle that owns/owned L&S Equipment on Hwy. 100 that's having the sale. Bockting themselves move a lot of equipment for sure...heck,I've bought several tractors from them and some equipment as well. And,of course,a whole lot of parts...really nice to have them around. I would bet the auctioneer is still getting 6-7 % from the seller.I guess they want to cover overhead of employee answering bid? |
