Small problem leads to big failure.

Neighbor texted as I finished mowing Saturday the renter was having tractor problem on our place. Tractor had died as attempted to go in and Tedder the brome they had mowed Friday. Change clothes as he showed up here with more information.

More than one tractor having problems, using a plastic barrel for fuel handling it got left in weather and presumption was got watered, had a new fuel filter but not comfortable without help to change it.

Grab some tools head to barn lot. Old Ford diesel, the renters family Father’s old tractor, been dependable, also have a Deere struggling but other brothers dealing with that one. Shut off fuel, drop filter a d yes was full of Snotty goo, dirt and debris along with water. Open tank valve NO flow. Get fuel line off and remove valve from tank. At this point set up a drain pan as fuel tank was loaded with crap. Shut off valve choked so used a hay straw to dig at the crud and managed to clear it. Reassembled with new filter added cleaner fuel then battery was dead.
Open hood and found the cables mounds of Blue Green. Ford design always been iffy, battery blocks access to nozzles to bleed fuel to get running. Bleed down to outlet lines off pump, get jumpers hooked up and connect to first a spare nearly dead battery then to my old Ford. Crank until starter gets hot, stop a few minutes and repeat until finally gets fuel to run.
Field tedded, dry enough by inspecting to start baling so off to get that set up and I came home.   Arrel has fuel floating above a layer of water and sludge so he was going to pump off decent fuel and clean out that barrel.

sigh....
sadly YOUR day of misery sounds a LOT better than 'my' porch project..

just one example 'segment'.
I find 90+ PISA stones(retaining wall blocks, 6x8x12 so 48# each). I did the math NEED 81(9 wide,9 tall, pretty sure that's 81...) Send ad to 'them' .TWO days later they decide I should get them..fine,whatever, I can't win....wife gets address and told 'some' are ready gone. I got the rest...45.'he' says that's enough. sigh....course 'he' didn't mash his '#1' right finger loading and unloading and stacking the 45. All this after laying down industrial weight vinyl sheets, plywood and carpet to protect the 2 year old 16by16 ,and  concrete slab and of course being told dump trailer's not in a spot......those are JUST the highlights....
oh I should say that I'd expected the 4 sonotubes and concrete to have been done last week but alas 'he' had to go on holiday.THAT might happen Tuesday, well started, maybe, we'll see.......

We are dealing with fuel problems on the neighbors big tractor that we run on the big square baler. Really a pita when it's hot out and your trying to bale before it rains again. At least you know where the bad fuel came from. We are scratching our head as he has a regular fuel tank with filter and gets fuel delivered by the truck. We drained the tractor last night and need to get a fresh tank of fuel and new filters and a jug of tank additive. Hoping to get ahead of this problem.🙁

Much of the time on a Storage Tank is does not get used enough but used to Half and sits, allows the tank to Breath and Condense and Add Water with Dust and Bugs.  Tank Filters are like Sink Garbage strainers, stop anything Bigger than a Gnat, where anything Smaller or different liquid, pass right on thru.
