I have an Encore. Have not shot it all that much. They are a well made gun, though things were probably better before Smith & Wesson bought them. Not a quality related thing. My understanding is that things like extra barrels got a lot harder to get after the merger. https://www.bellmtcs.com/ That should be more info than anyone could want on the subject. I got a trigger kit from them, very helpful.

I have a gen 1 in .44 mag with 10” choked barrel. Bought new in ‘82. Fired lots and lots of rounds through it, I roll my own ammo so could work out the best loads for it. Always wanted to shoot a deer with it, had a few chances, just never could do it, always worried about not getting a clean kill. Set it aside for the last 20 years. Friend gave me a scope for it, now getting back to shooting it. Forgot how much fun it was. I bought rubber Pachmyer grips for it to help control recoil, eventually went back to wood grips. Always wanted to get a .223 barrel, think that would be a fun shooter.

My brother has one since early 80s he's bought a half dozen barrels for it. It's very nice to shoot with all reasonable cartridges. Heavy rifle loads are no fun. 30-06 is about the heaviest load that was bearable. He did have a 7mm mag and you were glad it's a single shot. That one went back for a 410 barrel.
