I have what I think is a model 80-T sickle mower. I don't have a manual but am wondering what the cast iron bracket is that is bolted the U-shaped frame of the mower. There are two brackets on opposite sides from each other. In the picture you can see it near the tire. It is held on with two bolts and has a pin with a clip in the top. Does anyone know what they are for? Also there's a welded steel tab on the outside of the U-shaped frame on top of the axle that points backward. I also have a video of the mower at, http://www.youtube.com/user/whspioneer89?feature=mhee ![]() |

Those brackets are used for a hitch so you can pull a conditioner behind the mower, that's why there's a pto shaft coming out the back of the pully.

Those brackets are for the "trail hitch" attachment.
Don't ask me anything about it; never seen one.
Do have a picture, tho.

I guess that fits right in with Flint 23's answer.

That tube must be made of some pretty heavy duty steel.
