I have a 1943 WC Tractor.  Does anyone know the placement dimensions on the Allis Chalmers Hood Decal?  Also, should they be blue or black?  Thanks.

I do have that book, however it is a little vague as to where the Allis Chlamers logo should be placed.  I have seen some restored tractors online, however I do not see any consistancy between them.  Just want to get it right the second time.  I have attached a picture of the restored tractor that my grandfather purchased new.  Just finished the restoration in June.  I know that the WC model decal was not originally placed on the tractors as they came from the factory however I put it on for identification to others that look and wonder.   Edited by Shawn - 01 Dec 2009 at 5:23pm |

It looks very nice you have the Allis chalmers in the right place slitely forward  not center to the hood.Although I like the look of centered to the hood better the origanal is   slitely forward

    Thanks for the information.
I have it about 4" back from the hood seam, and approx. 1/4" above the rolled edge of the hood.   That's approximately what shows up on the photos shown in the WC operator's manual, however I was not sure what year they published the manual.  I suspected the location had possibly changed from 1939 to 1948.  From what I can tell by some of the decal distributors, the Allis Chalmers logo was blue through 1940, then it turned to black.

Does anyone have a shop service manual or parts manual that could possibly show more detail for the placement or color for the Allis Chalmers logo on the hood??  Not sure if the decal distributors have it right?
I would appreciate any additional information anyone might have.

It is an aftermarket hand clutch add-on that my grandfather bought since my uncle was too small at the time to reach the foot clutch to operate the tractor.  My grandfather has since passed on, and neither my Dad or uncle remembers where he picked it up at?

So does it just push on the foot clutch linkage then? (It's not for giving live power.)

This is right for a 1952 WD. After viewing a lot of old factory photos and ads this is what I came up with. Just a note, the factory decal placement does vary a little on a few photos I've found.

Shawn - I have a photo copy of an original Allis Operators Inst. , Maintenance, and Repair Parts Illustrations for Styled WC. Form TPL-465N The picture on the cover, and the 2 pictures on page 27 show the L & R hood decals just as you have them in your above picture - the front of the decal in line with the forward end of the horizontal rib in the hood. Also the long 'A' and 'S' just as you have. Gary

It just has a leverage point against the lower part of the foot clutch arm with a roller mechanism. Edited by Shawn - 10 Dec 2009 at 6:16pm |
