The A/C will work for about 5 minutes, then start blowing hot air. Haven't taken it to the dealership yet but will soon. I guess after working beautifully for 16 years and +250,000 miles, I should't complain. Hopefully, it's a simple fix. Any ideas?

if you have never added a can of R134, i would guess your just a little low on gas... If you have a pressure gauge, you can test it.... If not, look at the compressor clutch and see if it is ENGAGED 75% of the time when setting in the driveway with the AC on...increase engine speed to about 2000 RPM for a couple minutes to simulate what you see on the highway..... with a gauge you should have approx 35-40 psi on the low side and a little over 200 psi on the high side... as the low side dips to 25 psi, the clutch will shut OFF and the pressure will start to climb... about 45 psi it will restart the compressor ... you might see 20 seconds of running and 5-6 seconds OFF while the pressure rebuilds.

We just went through that with our 02 Trailblazer. They did find a leak in evap line which we knew about but we could recharge once a year and keep cool. They fixed the leak and problem persists. Ultimately turned out to be bad clutch. Gets hot and can't hold. Had to replace whole compressor as clutch comes as a unit.

Just replaced the condensor on the old gals Chrysler van. 450.00 later it's cold in there.
